Hi, Welcome back to fall, I’m sure hoping we get some more nice weather before the cold sets in on us. It’s been rainy and chilly here lately. We even had to put on some heat to stay warm in the house. I guess it’s been the coldest on record for August this summer.
Recently the activation of the Cloquet - based E-Battery 216th Air Defense Unit was announced. The E-Battery 216th Air Defense Unit is leaving August 20, 2004 for Fort Bliss, Texas, for five or six months of training on their general infantry security mission. Their total deployment length is scheduled for 12 - 18 months. The unit is almost certainly going to Iraq, but they haven’t received specific orders. Members of this unit include Seth, Trace, and Trent Mowers, and Robert Larson.
Last Sunday, August 8, 2004, was a very special day in the lives of 4 of our young men from the community. Robby Larson, and Seth, Trace and Trent Mowers were honored with a special “Send-Off” from the community and the Bethany Lutheran Church in Cromwell. The program started with several guest speakers, a circle of prayers, and calumniated with the singing of God Bless America and a farewell lunch. These young men will be headed to Fort Bliss, Texas for 6 months and then on to Iraq. All military, Active and those who have served our country were also thanked for their years of service. Speakers were: Dr. Joan Bloemendaal-Gruet, Arnold Collman, Margaret Webster, Jennie K. Hanson, Pastor Matt Saarem, Earl Almquist, Bill Switzer, and Judy Rosicky. Jennie passed out American flags to the family members of these guys and she also gave everyone a polished rock to help them all remember to pray for the soldiers in I-raq (rock). All 3 TV stations were also there to record the event for the news later on in the day. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you every day you are away! The Samsung DVD/VCR that is kept in the Bethany Ch urch in Cromwell is missing, if you have it, or know who does, please return it.
