There will be an Open House 90th Birthday Celebration for Ailie Costello at the Wright Senior Building on Sunday, December 4th from 1:30 - 4 PM. Ailie is originally from the Kalavala area, but has lived in Wright for many, many years. Let’s all come out and help her celebrate this milestone of life.
Get well wishes go out to George Hemmila who fell and broke his ankle and leg on November 8th. He was in St Luke’s Hospital in Duluth and now will have to go to a nursing home for recuperation and therapy. Let’s hope it isn’t for too long, and his wife, Aurelia says he is doing really well.
The Area Clothing Depot of Cromwell-Wright will be having its Annual Customer “Appreciation Day” Open House, December 10th. They will be open from 10 AM - 3PM. There will be refreshments and a drawing for several prizes. You must be present to register for the drawings. The Depot greatly appreciates the community’s response, support, patronage, and volunteers. Without you this valued service would not be possible. The Depot is located in the old Wright School, south entrance, on the 2nd floor.
At the recent Depot meeting, they gave $100.00 to the Football team for their State Tournament appearance, $200.00 to the Cromwell Fire Department for equipment, and $100.00 to Shine 24/7 for the Middle School Gathering.
Congratulations to Coach Jeff Gronner and the whole Cromwell - Wright Football Team and staff on their first appearance at the Metrodome since 2000. They played in the state 9-man semi final game on Friday, November 18th and won in a nail-biter, 23-20. It may be a coincidence, but Jeff Gronner also played in the State 9 - man football tournament in 1992. He was named to the all state team at that time, so it is a great accomplishment for him to now bring his team back to the dome. This is the 13th or 14th time that our team has appeared at the dome and probably many more games in the State Tournament.
Many people have wondered about why the State High School League only uses the name Cromwell instead of Cromwell-Wright when telling about our team. Well the reason I was given is that since there never was a Wright High School, they cannot use the name Wright in our team’s name.
Hundreds of area folks attended the game. It was also great to see so many former Cromwell-Wright Alumni at the game from all over the state. It’s like a big all-school reunion and I’m sure the team thanks all their loyal fans who have attended so many games this year. It was also great to see the support from the other area schools who came to the dome cheer the team on.
I’m sure there will be a “Welcome Home” event planned after the final game, so watch the Bus-Bulletin for announcements on that.
There will be No Shine 24/7 Youth group on November 28th and 29th. They will resume on December 6th and 7th and then there will be a Family Night at the Church in Cromwell on December 1st. Come at 6:30 PM for Praise and Devotions, then stay for a movies. There will also be snacks and refreshments. Everyone is welcome to attend, the more the merrier! If the spirit moves you, bring an item or two for the food shelf.
Wayne D. Dotten, former resident of Cromwell died on November 15, 2005 at Aitkin, MN. His funeral was held in Aitkin on November 18th. He will be buried in Anchorage, Alaska. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Janet, daughters Marianne and Karen, sons John and Earl and many other family and friends.
Santa Claus will be at the Trolley in Cromwell on Saturday, December 17th at 5 - 7 PM. Come talk to him and get your treat bag in the small wooden building next to the Trolley. Following the Santa treats, at 7 PM, come to the Pavilion for a Memorial Service for all of our loved ones who are no longer with us. There will be hot chocolate and bars after the service. Luminaries will also be on display from 5 - 9 PM. If you are interested in buying a Memorial Luminary for $1 please contact a member of the Cromwell Community Arts Group or call Jeanne Weimer at 644-3953.
The Annual Villa Vista Christmas Party and Family Night will be held at the Villa on Wednesday, December 7th at 7 PM. Please try to include residents at the Villa on your Christmas Card and gift list this year. They are so appreciative of any attention they get.
The Carlton County Retired Educators met at Bethany Lutheran Church on Tuesday, November 15th. Renee Bush gave a wonderful talk on her experiences teaching and working in Honduras during the 2004-2005 School year.
I’m hoping you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and that the Christmas Season will be filled with joy and happiness. Remember what Charlotte said in Charlotte’s Web, “Never Hurry and Never Worry.”
That’s all the news from Lake Gogetemguys and Hello to all the members of the Carlton County Retired Educators.

We are fast approaching the holiday season with all its various activities. Let’s all hope and pray that we keep the “Reason for the Season” in all our plans and activities.
I guess Thanksgiving has to be my favorite holiday. It’s the one where we stop to give thanks for all our blessings and there are no other expectations.
By the time you read this, our football team may be in the state championships again. Boy, they sure have done a great job this year and it seems that the guys have really enjoyed playing together as a “team”! They had a couple of very close games, and were fortunate to win them, so now they will make our whole town of Cromwell-Wright proud no matter what happens at the dome.
Pastor Matt Saarem, Peggy Olson and I attended the Spirit of Youth Ministry Conference in Grand Rapids last Friday night and Saturday. It was held at Zion Lutheran Church with over 50 area churches represented from our synod. What happens to our youth after they are confirmed? This was the main focus and there were many reasons brought forward. We all worked together to try to plan ways to keep our youth involved in the church.
A First Communion class will be held during the Shine 24/7 youth group soon. This class is for all 5th and 6th graders and older who have not taken communion yet and want to start.
That’s all the news from Lake Snowisontheway , Hello to all the football players and their parents and just remember “When life gives you scraps, make quilts”.
