Three Weddings and a Funeral

02/14/2006

By Jennie K. Hanson
Last year, “2004” was a year of years for Mark and Linda Dahlman of rural Wright, MN.  Their marriage of 30 years (as of July 14) was blessed with three daughters, and in 2004 those three daughters all decided to get married in the same year.
It all started when oldest daughter, Angela married Eddie Luna in Denver, Colorado on July 3rd.
Then shortly after that, youngest daughter, Suzanne married Lucas Goodin on the family homestead in rural Wright on August 21st.
After a couple of months break, several family and friends flew all the way to Costa Rica for middle daughter Rosalyn’s marriage to Fabio Obando on December 5th.
With all the joy and expense of 3 weddings in one year also came sadness as Mark’s mother, Katharine Dahlman died on April 30, 2004 before she could attend any of these special weddings.  Even though she couldn’t attend in person, she was there in spirit as her presence was felt at each event.
Now as the New Year has come and the weddings are over, Mark and Linda are no longer using their famous saying from last year.  It seemed that every time someone asked them if they were going to do something that required money they would both answer, “Not this year!”
