Wright – Cromwell News by Jennie K. Hanson April 7, 2008

The news this week will be pretty short as I just got called to sub in Cromwell and that means I only have about one hour to get this done.  I usually take at least two to three hours on Mondays to type, edit, proof read, and email this news to the area newspapers.  But, I will do what I can.

Lake Country Power will be holding their Annual Meeting on April 19th at the Lincoln Elementary School in Hibbing (11th Ave. and 23rd St).  Member registration and breakfast begins at 9 AM with the business meeting starting at 10:00 AM.

The Cromwell-Wright School will be holding Prom, “We Belong together” on Saturday, April 12th.  The Grand March will begin at the school at 5:15 PM at the school and coach buses will depart for The Lakeview Castle in Duluth at 5:45 PM.  Attendees will arrive at Lakeview Castle at 7 PM for the dinner and dance and then go to the Duluth YMCA at 11 PM and will stay there for the Post Prom until 2:30 AM.  Busses should arrive back at the school at 3:15 AM.

A very special event is being planned for Sunday, April 27th at Bethany Lutheran Church in Cromwell.  The Gates Family will be in concert at the regular 10:30 AM service.  There will also be the Baptism of Adan Luna, son of Angie and Eddie that day.

Bethany will also be holding their annual Rummage and Bake Sale on Friday April 25th and Saturday, the 26th.

Bethlehem Lutheran in Wright will be holding a Roast Chicken Dinner at the church on Friday, April 25th from 4:30 – 7 PM.  This will be a Thrivent Post 31299 Matching funds Event.

Don’t forget to attend the MN Sustainable Farmer Emeritus Award Presentation to Ken Peterson at Bethlehem Lutheran in Wright from 1 – 3 PM.  On Wednesday, April 16th.

With all the snow we’ve had I wonder if the Baseball/Softball season will get started.  Most games have been cancelled or postponed so far.

The Cromwell Sno-Gophers 25th Annual BINGO will be held on Friday, April 18th at the Sno-Gopher’s Club House in Cromwell at 7 PM.  This will also include 10 FREE games and FREE lunch, and they say there is NO FREE LUNCH!  Well, they would be wrong in this case.

There’s not much news this week and that may be a good thing, so as the condemned man said as he walked to the gallows, “No noose is good noose”!

That’s all the news from Lake Lessthanfortydaysofschoolleftnow and Hello to the family of Lauri Hemmila ( George’s last sibling) who passed away last week.  Thanks for being faithful readers of this column!
