Wright News by Jennie K. Hanson December 12, 2005
Well, it won’t be long now and it will be 2006. I think that will be easier to remember and write than 2005 was. For some reason, even numbers are easier for me to remember. Then, I usually go through the next book of checks and put in the New Year so I don’t forget to put in the correct date when writing checks.
Our sincere sympathy is extended the family of Niilo Suhonen, age 86, who passed away on December 10, 2005 at the Villa Vista Care Center in Cromwell.
Niilo will be dearly missed by his wife Vera of 56 years and his 9 children, Doug and Bonnie Suhonen, Robert and Ulla Suhonen, Joyce Suhonen, Mary and Sherman Erickson, Peggy and Larry Dahl, Roger and Kim Suhonen, Sharon and Jim Lisson, Cindy and John Woodward, and Jeff and Theresa Suhonen, 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Niilo was a veteran of WW I I. Niilo and Vera (Bogenholm) were married in 1949 in Floodwood and lived and farmed in rural Wright for all these many years. His funeral was held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church on Friday, December 16, 2002 with burial at Lakeside Cemetery in Lakeview Township.
Next week will be pretty busy for the school kids. The Elementary Christmas Program will be held on Tuesday the 20th and the high school concert will be on the 21st, both at 7 PM. Come and enjoy hearing our youth perform for everyone.
Mark your calendars for December 17th, as that will be a special day in Cromwell. There will be a visit by Santa and then a program to honor those who are no longer with us at the pavilion at 7 in the evening.
Cromwell-Wright has now formed a PTA. Members were elected on Monday, December 5th. They are as follows: President: Jeanne Weimer, Vice-President: Lea Tiili-Anderson, Secretary: Cindye Richards, Treasurer: Sarah Phipps and Historian: Janet Sworski. Everyone is encouraged to join and support our school, teachers, and children. The next meeting will be on January 9th at 7 PM in the school cafeteria. Come join the fun! Membership dues are $6.00 per person and $10.00 per family/couple.
The PTA will be hosting a Christmas Tea for the school teachers and staff on December 22nd from 2 - 3 PM. Anyone interested in volunteering to sit in classrooms during this time or to donate bars, cookies, cheese, crackers, or fruit - please contact Cindye Richards and 357-2312 or Deanne Smith at 644-3310. The students will be watching a movie at this time. This is just a little something we can do to show the staff how much we appreciate all the time and hard work put in for all our children through the years.
There will be an Open House Wedding Reception for Ken Anderson and Deb Swenson at the Cromwell Park Pavilion on Friday, December 30, 2005 with a dinner starting at 6:30 PM followed by a dance. You should RSVP to Deb if you plan attend.
I got a card from June Ryan and she writes that she is staying in a beautiful place and the people are wonderful. She has excellent food and she couldn’t ask for more. She misses her friends in Wright and would really enjoy hearing from them. Her new address is Ms. June Ryan, 525 2nd St. #42, Osseo, MN 55369-1660 She wishes everyone a very Merry Christmas.
Many area folks attended the Villa Vista’s Annual Family Night on Wednesday, the 7th. Rick and Bebe put on the program and they were very well received. The Villa has been in operation for 31 years now and you will soon be seeing some changes on the grounds. Thanks to the wonderful staff at the Villa for all the work you do with and for our senior citizens. You are truly appreciated.
Please don’t forget to visit our friends at the Villa Vista. They sure love company.
Thelma Johnson is now a resident at the Villa. She’s in room 27. Stop by to say Hello.
I guess that all the news from Lake Haveacoolyule and Hello to all the Suhonen’s who are home to honor Niilo’s memory.
