Wright News by Jennie K. Hanson May 5, 2005

As I sit down to write this week’s news; I am aware that today’s date is 05/05/05.  That’s pretty neat, but what’s even neater is that Ramona Goranson’s daughter Sheryl turns 50 today.  Do you think that Mona had this planned back in 1955?  Sheryl sure has a lot of 5’s in her life.  Anyway, Happy Birthday and have a great next 50 years of life!

The children, teachers, parents, congregation and Prayer Partners at Bethlehem Lutheran Church will celebrate another year of Sunday school on May 22nd at the regular worship service.  This will be the last day of Sunday school for the year.  Attendance certificates will be given out and the kids will serve the fellowship lunch after services.

There are a lot of graduation parties being planned for the last weekend in May.  Let’s congratulate our area seniors on their achievements and wish them well in their future endeavors.  Remember Graduation will be held at the school on May 27th at 8 PM.

And speaking of graduation, Bonnie and Doug Suhonen would like to congratulate their youngest daughter Erin, for her accomplishments during the last four years.  Erin has been on the Dean’s List since going to Bemidji State University.  She has participated all four years in both winter and spring track and done very well.  She has really enjoyed intramural sports as well.  Erin has helped restart the Campus Crusade for Christ at the University.  She has led and taught others to lead while with this group.  There are a great many that participate weekly that would not have had the opportunity if this organization had not been revitalized after many years of absence.  She has done work-study and also worked in the community her entire time at Bemidji.  She tells her father and mother that she has a Mass Communication major with a Journalism emphasis, English minor, and her coaching certificate.  Erin is a little unsure of her future, but be assured that your entire family and this community is very proud of you and your accomplishments.

The Cromwell Community Arts Group held their first annual “Artist’s Day Out” at the Cromwell School on Saturday, April 30th.  There were over 20 artists participating and the turnout from the community was pretty good for the first try at this type of event.  It was especially great to see so much local talent on display.  I’m sure that next year it will be bigger and better.  If you are interested in becoming a member, or would like more information call Jeanne at 644-3953 or Sam at 218-390-2974. They meet at the Cromwell Pavilion on the first Thursday of the month.

Linda and Bud Lehti attended dinner at the Hong Kong Restaurant in Cloquet in honor of Jeanette and Jerry Bradford’s 50th Wedding Anniversary.

Dorothy Groth, Linda Lehti, Sara, Jake and Elisabeth Kachinski, and Carrie and Amelia Groth celebrated Sara and Carrie’s Birthday with lunch and visit to Carrie and Dale Groth’s home in Cloquet.

Dawn Lippo called and asked me to put in the winners of the Sno-Gophers BINGO raffle drawings held on April 23rd, 2005.  The $100.00 went to David Vickaryous of Angle Inlet, MN, and $50.00 went to Tim Halvorson of McGregor, and $25.00 went to Muriel Gustafson of Cloquet.  The members of the Sno-Gophers would also like to thank the area business for their prize donations and let you know that the June meeting has been cancelled.

Sara and Elisabeth Trinity Kachinski and Linda Lehti attended the LWML Brainerd Zone Spring Rally at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Aitkin.  The theme was, “Come and You will See.” The Rev. Steve Anderson from Mission of the Cross led the Bible Study, “The Faith We Share.” Speaker, Cheryl Kicker shared her life in God’s hands.  The ingathering was for Lakes Area Pregnancy Support.  Pastor David Becker led opening and closing devotions.  The ladies of St. John’s served the noon luncheon.

The Quarterly Meeting was held at St. John’s after services on April 17th followed by a potluck dinner.

Jake Kachinski, Aaron Goranson, Jeff Hassel, Sherrie and Kevin Gabrielson, all members of the Wright Fire Department, attended the First Responders Class at Mercy Hospital in Moose Lake, MN.  All passed their training and are now qualified First Responders.

The Mary and Martha Society met Thursday, May 5th at St. John’s. Pastor Koopman led the Bible Study and Nina Hart was hostess.

The Wright Little League has started practice.  Call Dean Johnson at 644-3456 or Dennis Johnson at 357-3808 for more information.

The staff at the Villa Vista honored the area volunteers with an appreciation breakfast on Tuesday, May 10th at 9 AM.  It seems that there are so many volunteers in the area and I for one would also like to thank them for all their time and resources.

Does anyone know what’s going on with Wrong Days in Wright?  I need to hear from someone so I can get the word out about this annual event.

The After School Program will end on May 19th.  This program has been a real asset to our community.  Thanks to all the donations, volunteers and staff that has made this program possible.

Cody Scavezze, Ayla Shelton, Janel Jordan, and Taylor Bloemendaal have been chosen by their classmates to be the D. J.’ for the Senior Night on WKLK on May 10th.

That’s all the news from Lake Takeakidfishing and Hello to Jeanne, Billy and Josh.
