Fall is here, so be sure to turn your clocks back on Sunday, October 30th at 2 AM. That means we will get an extra hour of sleep on Saturday night, but I guess some of us will just stay up late and lose it anyway. I always wonder how many people will arrive at church an hour earlier when we change our clocks back?
The Cromwell-Wright Hjalmar Alto American Legion Auxiliary is planning a special Thank You project for all our current service men and women. The first ever Meatloaf Supper held at Bethlehem Lutheran was a huge success. There were over 175 people in attendance and the food was fantastic. Many people have asked for the meatloaf recipe, so here it is. It was contributed by Marian Larsen of Tamarack Lake.
MARIAN’S (SUE’S) CHURCH MEATLOAF
Mix together and then put in the bottom of a pan.
1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
1/2 Cup catsup
Then, mix the rest of the ingredients together and put in the same pan.
1 and 1/2 lbs ground beef
3/4 cup milk
2 eggs
3/4-cup cracker crumbs 1 small onion-chopped
1 &1/2 teaspoon Salt Dash of pepper
1/4 Teas. Ginger
Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees, Put on a platter and pour sauce (degrease the sauce first) from the bottom of the pan over the meatloaf.
You can put the next Church supper on your calendar, too. The Annual Hunter’s Supper with Turkey and all the trimmings will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church in Cromwell on Friday, November 4th serving from 3 - 7 PM.
Hunting Season will start on Saturday, November 5th and that will also be the day set aside for the Annual Cromwell Community Arts and Craft Sale at the school in Cromwell beginning at 9 AM. Contact Peggy Olson at 644-3746 or Pauline Strand at 644-3713 to sign up for a table or if your group would like to sell the admission tickets.
Jenna Shelerud, daughter of Susan and Tom Shelerud, broke the school record for the most points ever attained in the history of the Cloquet, Carlton, Esko Diving Team over the past week. She was judged on difficulty of the dives by five judges and had the most number of points. She is the granddaughter of Sulo and Delores Walli of Wright.
The Kid’s Plus After School Program is in need of size- F Crochet Hooks for a project they are starting. If you have any, or yarn, please donate them to the school.
There will be a Picture Retake Day on November 1st beginning at 1 PM at the school. You can also come in if you didn’t make it in for the regular picture day.
