Wright News by Jennie K. Hanson 1-15-07

Good morning or Good Afternoon.  I get my mail in the afternoon, but some of you must get yours in the morning.  So, I hope you have a great day. Our community was again shocked to hear of the untimely death of Deanna Clark of Cromwell.  She died on Saturday, January 13, 2007.  Her death will be a big blow to her family and friends.  Funeral arrangements are pending. Ellen Resso, of the Villa Vista also died this past weekend.  She was 99 years old and is the sister of Leonard and Art Aho.  Her funeral will be next week.

According to Carolyn Krogh, spring is just around the corner.  With that in mind, the American Cancer Society Daffodil Days will be in the Cromwell-Wright area during the week of March 5-9.  Daffodils will be sold in bunches for $8.00 and anyone who wants them should order them by February 9th.  In addition to daffodils, you can get a specially designed Boyd’s Bear and a bunch of daffodils for a donation of $25.00.  Call Carolyn at 644-3670 to pre-order.

There will be a very special Birthday Party at the Villa Vista on Wednesday, January 24th at 2 PM for the residents who are in their 90’s or will turn 90 this year.  There are over 30 residents in their 90’s now, although they just lost Ellen Resso, age 99 and Wally Strand 97.  Those included are Gladys Clark, Lillian Seymore, William Ruska, Hazel Riggs, Elizabeth Hanson, Catherine Ruzyniski, Albert “Perk” Peterson, Mary Speece, Earl Riggs, Esther Broadway, Esther McGuire, Mary McAllister, Harry Seppanen, Dora Huhta, Henry Maki, Ann Vorderbruggen, 103, George Balsness, Ed Granlund, Vienna Letty, Tyne Plotnik, Hilda Nivala, EdwardHeikkila, Sonja Egerdahl, Juanita Larsen, Helen Maki, and Doris Collman. A beautiful Memorial service was held for Steven Lukanen on January 10, 2007.  There were over a hundred folks in attendance.  Songs and tributes were given by Ebba Hedin, Ramona Harp, Lindsay and Ray Lally, Rod Walli and others.  Steve will long be remembered in this community for his very uniqueness.  He was brilliant!
