Wright News by Jennie K. Hanson April 2, 2007

Our sympathy to extended to the family of Pat McMillan on her recent death on March 28, 2007.  Her Memorial service will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Wright at 1 PM on April 10, 2007.

It’s a cloudy, misty, cold Monday morning as I sit down to write the news.

They are predicting a snowstorm for the 3rd, and with that winter will be back, but by the time you read this news, it should be sunny and warmer, I hope!  We never know what the weather will be like in spring, but I am so thankful we had our driveway tarred last summer.  You can’t believe how nice it is not to have all that mud coming into the house.

On Tuesday, April 10th at NOON, the YOT of Cromwell will hold their Easter/Spring Pot Luck celebration.  Bring along a dish to share and come and join us.  Remember, if you aren’t already a member, the annual dues are $2 and include lots of fun and socializing!  See you there!

The Tamarack Presbyterian Church will be having Easter Services (April 8) at 8 AM instead of their regular time.  There will also be a Potluck Breakfast at 7 AM.  This way, folks can go to church and then spend their whole day with family for Easter.

The Title I Family night was held at the school on Thursday, March 29th. The kids and their families were treated to sloppy joes, chips and ice cream followed by Jack Pearson, the Song-Strummin’ Storyman.  He played music and told stories for about an hour which the kids really enjoyed.  After that, the kids and families went up to the art room and learned to do some cartoon drawing.  The evening ended with drawings for door prizes and everyone seemed to have a great time.  We also want to thank all the Title I workers for setting up this great evening of events.  They are Rachel Matuszak, Sandi Gervais, Brenda Korpela, Diane Smith and Principal, Tom Cawcut.

The Midwest Country Music Theater in Sandstone, Mn is now open again for the spring and summer.  This theater is the Gateway to Live Entertainment.  It has the best of the Upper Midwest and Nashville Acts.  For a schedule, call 320-245-2429 for a schedule of events.

The school kids were back in school on April 2nd and 3rd because they had to make up the Snow Days from March 1st and 2nd.  They still have 3 days off, though for Spring Break.  School will resume on April 9th.  There will be Early Dismissals on April 16th and 27th for teacher workshops.

The Carlton County Retired Educators will be meeting at the Cromwell-Wright School on April 10th at noon.  Lunch of Chicken Tenders, Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Salad, and Cherry Crisp will be served.  Members and newly retired teachers are encouraged to attend.  The program will be put on by the 3 Exchange Students at the school.  There will also be the regular business meeting. On a personal note:  I really enjoyed my morning at the Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beaver Township on Hwy 27, on the 1st.  I was asked to preach and do the service by Harold Haapoja and he said it wasn’t an “April Fool’s” trick either!  We had a good time sharing our faith and music.  Both Billy and Harold Haapoja did the music with several special numbers for the folks.  Lunch was served after services and Doris was wished a very Happy Birthday.  Services are held at the Church on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month at 10:30 AM.  Visitors are always welcome to attend.

This week will be very busy with all the Easter Events going on.  If you read this before Easter, know that I wish all my readers a Very Blessed Easter.  Remember, He died for you and for me!

Bible Verse:  Christ died for our sins.  1 Cor. 15: 3`

Household Hint:  If your kids clamor for a snack before supper, seize upon the opportunity to get their vegetables down them.  Furnish them with an attractive served dish arranged with carrot sticks, celery sticks, tiny lettuce wedges, pieces of firm tomato, cucumber slices, strips of green pepper or watercress.  Any of all of these foods are nourishing, but not too filling.

Trivia for the week:  “Charlie Hustle” is the Nickname of baseball player, Pete Rose, it was coined by Mickey Mantle.

What was the real name of Johnny Appleseed?  John Chapman.

What was Bart Simpson’s middle name?  Jo-Jo

On April 1st, 1945 the U. S. Forces invaded Okinawa during WWII.

That’s all the news from Lake Prayfortheneedy and Hello to all the CCRE Members.
