If you have been wondering ‘Why all the traffic this past week?’, it is preparation time for deer hunting season.  Vehicles and trailers with anxious hunters are heading to their favorite hunting spot to get things ready. This also is a sure sign that Bethany Lutheran Church in Cromwell is gearing up for their annual Hunter’s Supper.  The date for this important event is Friday, November 2nd from 3 PM to 7 PM.  Prices are as follows:  Under 6 - Free, 6 to 12 - $5.00, and Over 12 - $8.00.  Take out is available.  Supplimental funding will be provided Trivent Financial of Lutherans.  Hope you can make it!

Bethany Lutheran is a bundle of activity this time of year.  Not only do they host the Hunter’s Supper, they host the Holiday Bazaar the following weekend.  The bazaar will be held on Sunday, November 11th.  Brouse and buy from 6 - 7 PM, and take in the action at 7 PM.  There will be a White Elephant Sale, yummy baked good, handmade items, and a table for non-auction items.  Lunch, pie and coffee will be hosted by Bethany Lutheran 24 Shine group.  Supplimental funding from Trivent will be provided for 24 Shine.  Come see what there is to offer.

Randy and Wendy (Grover) LaMere of Cloquet, are happy to announce the birth of a daughter, Madison Nevaeh. She was born on September 26th,weighed in at 6 lb. 7 1/2 oz. and was 19 1/2 inches long.  She joins her sister, MacKinzie, and a brother, Aiden.  Aiden and Madison share the same birthday.  How about that for a coincidence!!  Grandparents are Mr. & Mrs. Randall LaMere of Duluth and Brad and Dawn (Kingsley) Grover of Carlton, and a great grandmother, June Kingsley of Cromwell.  Congratulations to their family.

Arnold and June Collman visited friends from Money Creek, MN last week.  The long time family friends had made the trip north to help Arnold and June celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary in August.  While they were here, they received a call about the flood that was occuring in southern MN.  Upon arriving at home, Dave and Mavis Jorde of Money Creek found their basement full of water.  It took quite a clean up effort to pump out the water and dispose of the property that wasn’t repairable.  Floyd and Lenore Mercer’s home was on higher ground, and their property was not damaged.

Erwin (Bud) Kingsley, of Hoyts Lakes, MN, died Tuesday, October 9th at the Skilled Nursing Facility of White Community Hospital in Aurora, MN.  He was 77 years old.  He was born in LaCrosse, WI. He was married to Dorothy Bluhm in Eyota, MN in 1953.  He had been employed as a truck driver for Reserve Mining Co, until his retirement in 1986.  He is survived by three daughters, Teri (Tom) Austin of Brainerd, Minn., Cheryl (John) Nelson of Babbitt and Mary Jo Buchanan of Rescue, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Violet Christensen and Naomi D’Angelo, both of Aurora. Other survivors include a former daughter-in-law, Cathy Kingsley-Larsen of Gilbert, Minn. He was preceded in death by his wife, a son, a brother, a sister, and two great-grandchildren in infancy.  Bud had many relatives in the Cromwell area, including the surviving families of his uncles/aunts (deceased) , Clarence and Ina Smith Sr., Kenneth and Blanche Kingsley and Orren and Amy Kingsley. Memorial services were held at the Lutheran Church of the Good Sheperd in Babbitt, MN.  Condolences to his family.

The Cromwell-Wright American Legion Auxiliary will hold their next meeting on Monday, November 12 at 1:00 at the High School.  Please wear your parade uniforms, as we will be joining with the McGregor American Legion in their presentation on the meaning of Veteran’s Day.  A short business meeting will follow.

It’s time for the YOT Thanksgiving Luncheon, which will be held at the Pavilion on Tuesday, November 13 at 12:00 Noon.  Turkey and all the trimmings will be served.  The meal will be provided for all members, if you please call Carolyn to RSVP at 310-8357.  If you would like to join us and are not a club member or you are the special guest of a club member, the charge will be $10.00 per person.

There will be a Turkey BINGO at the Immaculate Conception Catholic church between Cromwell and Wright on November 10th from 7 - 9 PM
