Hi, It’s almost the end of summer with the changing back of the clocks in November.  Remember to fall back and turn your clocks back on November 4th at 2 AM.  Also check those batteries in your smoke detectors.

The folks at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wright have a Bible they found at the church and would like to return it to the owner. They’ve asked at the church and no one knows who it is so they thought maybe if they put it in the paper someone might know.  It’s a black Bible, with a zipper closure and it says to Mother for Christmas in 1955 - and it’s signed from Chuck and George and family.  I wonder if it could belong to the Kisler’s?  Call Linda Lehti if you can identify it.

Also, St. John’s Celebrated Pastor Appreciation Day on Sunday October 14th.  The children sang and made cards.  Heather Zoeller also made a poster with the Sunday School pictures for the Pastor.  Karen Reid made and decorated the cake for potluck fellowship after church.

Recently returning from a trip to Branson were Geralyn Aho from Kettle River and Karen Reid from McGregor.  While Minnesota temperatures dipped into the 40’s, the sunshine in Branson brought the mercury far into the 90’s, and even reached 100 degrees.  The two attended many concerts, where the a/c kept the folks cool.  Yet, there was certainly hot talent on all the stages, with the youngest being two weeks and the oldest surpassing seven decades.

They report a terrific trip.  This was Gerry’s seventh time to Branson and Karen’s first.  It was great to be in the presence of such extremely talented musical folks.

Karen tells how impressive it was, that every single show they attended would recognize the Veterans.  All branches of the service were asked to stand, while their special song was played.  The musicians in Branson conveyed a HUGE feeling of patriotism and wanted to thank all of our Veterans, every day!

Gerry hasn’t seen everything, yet and they both want to see Branson during the Christmas season.  Southern Gospel is warmly shared by everyone, throughout the week.  They even witnessed it while shopping.  They especially appreciated attending Cowboy Church on Sunday!

Did you happen to notice the cartoon on the back of last week’s Bus Bulletin?  (October 15th) Well, it was created and drawn by our host son from South Korea, Gwang Ho Lee.  He is a good artist and we are very proud of him and his drawings.

Our other son, Sonet from Bangladesh is planning a fashion show for later in the month, so please keep that in mind, too.

Try to remember Art Jauss’s 90th Birthday Party on Saturday, October 27th from Noon to 3 PM.  I will not be able to attend, so have a great celebration Art for a Great Guy!!

There will be an “All Saints Celebration” at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Wright on Thursday, October 25th from 6 – 8 PM.  Everyone is invited to an informal gathering to share stories about loved ones who have died.  Bring a picture, a memento and a favorite food of the person who has died.  Come ready to share and Pastor Janeva will share about her sister Catha who died in 1974.  There is no limit to how long ago the person died.

Congratulations to Keith Bergstedt on being inducted into the Minnesota State Football Hall of Fame last April.  He was formally recognized by the School Board and the Community at last Friday night’s football game with a plaque during halftime of the Cromwell/Wright vs. Hill City Game.  Keith wants to thank everyone for all their support over the 17 years he was coach and knows that without the kids buying into the program, and the encouragement of the parents and fans, these accomplishments could never have happened.  Let’s keep the tradition going!

Parents, Please try to attend the Family and Community Night hosted by the Cromwell-Wright Public Schools on October 24th at 5 PM.  Corwin Kronenberg will present techniques for teaching children to be responsible.  I have attended many classes taught by Mr. Kronenberg and he is a very dynamic and entertaining speaker and teacher.  He is a very down to earth teacher and knows that kids need and want rules to live by.  He makes an evening of fun and I know everyone who attends will be glad they did.  Don’t feel that you have to have kids either.  These techniques work well with grandkids and friends’ kids, too.  New parents could especially benefit from the evening!

Keep saving your milk jugs for the annual “Light Up the Night” event at the pavilion in Cromwell in December.  Luminaries will be placed all around town in memory of lost loved ones.  Jugs can be dropped off at Jeanne Weimer’s in Cromwell.

Hunting season starts on November 3rd this year.  Please try to attend the Bethany Lutheran Hunter’s Supper on the 2nd and then go to the Craft Sale at the School on the 3rd.

There will be a Cash BINGO at the Wright Senior Citizen’s on October 27th from 7 – 9 PM at the Wright Senior Center.  Costumes are welcome!

Don’t forget the Free Coat and Sweater give-away at the Wright Area Clothing Depot on October 16, 18th, 20th, 23rd, 25th, and 29th.

The last Senior Dance of the season will be held on Thursday, October 25th at the Cromwell Park Pavilion from 1 – 4 PM.  The Fat Dutchman will be providing the music.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

The first tournament Football Game will be held in Cromwell on Tuesday, October 23rd.  Watch the bus Bulletin for more details.

Congratulations to Jean Lind on her retirement from teaching in the Cromwell/Wright School System.  Jean was the 1st Grade teacher for many years, starting back in Old Wright School.  At Jean’s request, there will not be a retirement party, but you are asked to show your appreciation for her years of dedication to education of the students, families, staff and administration by writing notes and cards and leaving a donation at the school if you like.  The staff in the office will collect all the donations and present them to her with a HUGE THANK YOU AND ENJOY YOUR RETIREMENT!
